Black Iris Art Studio

Black Iris Art Studio is a working ceramic sculpture studio: people of all ages are invited to come learn to work in clay, and push the medium to its limits!  Learning and creativity lead to ideas rendered in clay, ready for use, contemplation or both.

Elizabeth Cornell-Wilkin is owner and instructor at the Black Iris Art Studio, a ceramic studio for all ages, in Warren, NH.  At present she is working on a CAGS degree concentrating on Integrated Arts Leadership at Plymouth State University, in Plymouth, NH.

Elizabeth loves to travel and lead workshops sharing her craft, and explores the varied landscape of our country nature, people, and the vast, ever-changing sky.  She paints in acrylic and oil on panel to catch the depth of the luminous color she sees in her subjects and to understand their forms.  She models these subjects in relief earthenware and porcelain wall sconces, playing with form, exploring the use of oxides and glass as colorants.

Elizabeth has been fortunate to have had the mentorship of painters Lewis J. Powers and William Cowing at the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT; James Wilson Rayen and Bunny Harvey at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA; and sculptors Robert Engman and Maurice Lowe at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.  She is thankful to them and to her family and friends for their support.
